Didactic Training
![]() The Basic Course is introductory ultrasound training for nurses to become competent in scanning. The Basic 3-day Course is provided by NIFLA (National Institute of Family and Life Advocates) and has two tracks: medical and management, which address both medical and administrative concerns. <br> The clinic directors, executive directors, board members and CEOs will attend workshops that include fundraising ideas, client marketing, recruitment and supervision of medical teams, clinic infrastructures, corporate strategies, policies and procedures, and risk management issues. The nurse's track includes legal guidelines, obstetrical fundamentals, nursing accountability, ultrasound physics, ultrasound instrumentation, documenting fetal cardiac activity and fetal biometry. Limited hands-on OB scanning or pregnant models training is also available. NIFLA recommends that an additional 50-75 supervised scans should be performed by each nurse after this training. More information on additional scans is available here
