| I Had No Idea
She entered the exam room with a smile so large the rest of her face seemed to disappear. I remember thinking, "How could she be so happy while contemplating having an abortion?""She just doesn’t understand her situation. She doesn’t know it is a life within her. A beating heart, moving limbs, vessels carrying blood to and from every organ. Life. A life God has created. A life with purpose," were my thoughts as I started the ultrasound procedure. Viewing the ultrasound, she exclaimed, “Is that my baby moving? Already?” "Yes” the trainee replied. “Pretty amazing, isn’t it?” The smile turned to tears that welled up in her eyes as she continued to watch the screen. "I had no idea” she whispered, staring at the image. Who grew more? The privileged ultrasound providers as observers to what God was doing in this young lady's life right before our eyes? Or a nonchalant client realizing in her heart the incredible gift that God had entrusted to her?
