Words Tell it All
“Scared, excited, apprehensive, miracle, and unbelievable”, those are the words used by medical personnel as they begin ultrasound training. The young women we scan each day at a center use these same words. They too are "scared, excited, and apprehensive" as they see the miracle of their baby on the screen and find it unbelievable. The parallel of emotions is uncanny. The technicians view ultrasound as a tool God has provided them as a way to be involved in ministry. The pregnant girl sees ultrasound "only as a test" that gives them confirmation of a pregnancy. They are never sure if they want to be involved in what shows up on the screen. As we scan each woman, and ask her “What word would you use to describe what you’re seeing on the ultrasound screen?” the answers we receive reveal what is truly on their heart and mind; the words we hear are words like," scared, excited, apprehensive, miracle, and unbelievable." Truly, “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” It can be hard to determine who grows more during an ultrasound, but one thing is certain, whether it is the trainee or the parent, God uses it to draw each one involved closer to Himself, as He reveals the likeness of His image through the technology of ultrasound.
