Board Meetings
Prayer must always be the key element and focus of the board meetings themselves. Relationship-building through social activities is important but the time spent doing this shouldn’t deter your board from having productive business meetings. In order to keep the meetings on track, it is helpful to have a written agenda prepared by the Chair, with input from the Executive Director, that is mailed to the board members in advance of the meeting. Most meetings will center around reports, including reports from the Treasurer, the Executive Director and committees and task force reports. These should also, ideally, be sent in advance so all in attendance are familiar with the content. Always take minutes at board meetings. However, the board secretary need only record the decisions that are made and should not be a transcript of all discussions. If there is a discussion which does not result in a decision, a brief notation should be made.
