| Donor Development Tips
As a board member you may be called upon to help the Executive Director of the center build relationships with donors in your community. It takes an investment of time and energy, but getting to know your donors is vital to building the donor base for pregnancy resource centers.
As you invest in developing relationships, donors will catch your enthusiasm and vision for your ministry. The more involved, on a personal level, the greater the opportunity to create “buy-in” with your donors. Two ways to build relationships with donors is by visiting them personally or by hosting small, intimate events. Personal visits can be a simple “face to face” meeting to express your gratitude for support of your ministry. Asking questions and listening to donors will help you see where their passion for your ministry grows from. From this visit you may even find ways they would like to be more involved in your ministry! Hosting small, more intimate events than the larger banquet type events is another way to personally minister to donors. Giving donors an intimate look inside your ministry by sharing the vision and potential future projects is another way to increase involvement by donors for the pregnancy ministry you are involved. Board members can be great ambassadors for the pregnancy resource center they are part of, by building relationships with donors and personally ministering to them.
