![]() Alicia
Alicia suspected that she might be pregnant and came to the fully Spanish-speaking Women's Pregnancy Center for a free test. After seeing the positive pregnancy test, she confessed that she didn't want another baby because she and her husband, Norato, already had two daughters, a 4-year-old and a baby not even one year old yet! Alicia also shared that she had been told that her life was at risk due to existing medical problems. Because of these circumstances, Alicia reported that she and her husband did not want to continue the pregnancy. Alicia was invited to come back that day for an ultrasound, and it was scheduled late enough for her husband to attend. They also were able to meet with the bi-lingual doctor who volunteered at our prenatal clinic that evening. As soon as the Doppler was placed on Alicia's abdomen, the baby's heartbeat melted his parent's hearts! Alicia asked her husband, "Who are we to take away this baby's life?" Norato agreed — they could not justify having an abortion! Throughout her pregnancy, Alicia and Norato faced many challenges. Norato's work hours were cut, and they were forced to move out of their trailer because they could not pay the rent. They even considered the dismal thought of moving back to Mexico because "how could they make it here in Tucson?" Yet, they still felt that their decision for life was right. Their life was filled with sadness and then, joy! Alicia explained that it seemed like "one door after another began opening." Norato found a new job that paid better, they moved into a larger trailer for their growing family, and finally, Alicia had a healthy birthing experience! Today when Alicia and Norato put their children to bed at night, they often imagine what if they had gone through with the abortion. They would not experience the joy of their two sons. You see, when Alicia was six months along, her doctor surprised them with the news that she was carrying twin boys. This time, the Doppler picked up both heartbeats and Alicia and Norato, even though in shock, excitedly gazed upon the unborn faces of Alan and Alexis! When Alicia returned to the Center with her active family, this young, 25-year-old mother of four had a genuine peace about her as she tended to each child. What a beautiful and complete family, thanks to one of the miraculous ultrasound machine gifts that Focus on the Family gave to The Women's Pregnancy Center in Tucson, Arizona. Alicia visited The Women's Pregnancy Centers. Faces of Option Ultrasound Index
