![]() "Nancy"
Nancy* was pregnant and came to Care Net Pregnancy Center of Rockland to learn about her options. She was considering abortion. She felt it was her best option as her current relationship was not happy. Nancy asked for information about abortion, which her client advocate provided, but she also talked with her about fetal development and encouraged Nancy to have an ultrasound before she made a decision. Her advocate spent a lot of time talking with Nancy and listening to her concerns, even listing the pros and cons of her current relationship. But since Nancy was the main breadwinner in the relationship, she struggled with whether or not she could have this baby. And although Nancy did not necessarily share the advocate's belief in Christ, she seemed to accept that this child was a gift from God. Still, she continued to doubt that she could have this baby. When Nancy came back for an ultrasound and she saw the image on the screen, she declared, "Oh, it's really there!" Nancy continued to process what she had seen on the ultrasound screen in light of her difficult circumstances. In her second trimester, she decided that ending this pregnancy would be wrong. She and her partner are now looking forward to the birth of their baby in the New Year. Nancy continues to meet with her client advocate to be encouraged and supported through her pregnancy and will work with a birthing instructor to prepare for the birth of her baby! Nancy visited Care Net Pregnancy Center of Rockland. * Nancy requested that her real name and photo not be used. Faces of Option Ultrasound Index
All Pregnancy Medical Clinics in the Option Ultrasound Program provide limited obstetrical ultrasound as medically indicated. Clinics are licensed to operate under the supervision of a physician, using only trained sonographers. Focus on the Family does not endorse the use of ultrasound outside of a medical clinic setting and does not endorse the use of ultrasound for non-medical reasons. Patient referrals are made to physicians for follow-up diagnosis and care as needed. Copyright © 2008 Focus on the Family All rights reserved. International copyright secured.
