Like many women coming to First Choice Pregnancy Services in Las Vegas, Amanda knew she was pregnant and wanted an abortion. But, she also knew she needed an ultrasound first, so she came to First Choice because ultrasounds are offered at no cost to clients.

The counselor consulted with Amanda, discussing her options, but she still wanted an abortion – and an ultrasound. During the scan, the baby's heartbeat was strong and Betsy, the First Choice ultrasonographer conducting the scan, estimated its age to be approximately 23 weeks. She shared with Amanda that at this age, her baby was viable and would likely survive if born. However, Amanda appeared unmoved and still wanted the abortion.

Betsy recognized that time was running out for this baby. After completing measurements in 2D, she switched to 4D to give a photo-like image in real time. Her heart sank when she saw the baby's arm was covering his face! For several minutes, Betsy scanned and prayed.

And then it happened! He moved his arm slightly, revealing a peaceful face resting in trusting comfort within his mother's womb. Only a portion of the baby's face could be seen, but Betsy quickly captured the resulting image on-screen.

When Amanda saw this first picture of her baby's face, she could not stop looking and her heart melted. The humanity of her baby was now apparent. She no longer wanted the abortion and courageously chose life for her child.
