Claudia, one of the counselors at First Choice Pregnancy Services in Las Vegas, took her son to a local amusement area for a day of fun together. As they were being secured into a ride, the male attendant noticed Claudia's t-shirt, which happened to have the PRC's name and logo on it.

He exclaimed, "First Choice! I know that place!" That was all he offered, and Claudia didn't ask any questions. Claudia makes a conscious effort not to remember her client'’ faces in too much detail, so she will never accidentally betray any type of confidentiality if she happens to see them in public.

After the ride was over, as Claudia and her son left the ride area, the young man chased her down. He said, "Wait, I want to tell you something. You guys saved my baby! My girlfriend came to your place, looking for an abortion. She had planned to abort our baby and never even tell me.

"She was told that you don't do abortions, but you could offer her an ultrasound and other information to help her make the best decision for her. We came back together for her ultrasound and I just want to thank you for all you do at First Choice, because you saved my baby! Thank you!"

Ministry at a PRC can be challenging, and sometimes the staff and volunteers do not know the long term impact that they have in someone's life after they walk out the door. But sometimes a day at the park can bring reminders that what they do, day in and day out, can make a life-saving, eternal difference -- one family at a time.

All Pregnancy Medical Clinics in the Option Ultrasound Program provide limited obstetrical ultrasound as medically indicated. Clinics are licensed to operate under the supervision of a physician, using only trained sonographers. Focus on the Family does not endorse the use of ultrasound outside of a medical clinic setting and does not endorse the use of ultrasound for non-medical reasons. Patient referrals are made to physicians for follow-up diagnosis and care as needed.
