I Remember Those Tears

Her wailing filled every room of the clinic.  It's very rare that we hear any sound coming out of the counseling rooms. But last week, Rochelle came in and became deeply despondent upon learning of her pregnancy.  She cried uncontrollably.  In fact, she was inconsolable.  She grieved for a variety of reasons, including the brutal humiliation she suffered from the man who took advantage of her and then "threw her away." She used tissue after tissue and eventually the counselor moved the trash can right in front of her.  It wasn't long before the little basket was full of her tears.

Two of our advisors sat with her and they all cried together.  Rochelle would get up and pace the floor; wanting to leave one moment and asking for more information the next.  One of our advisors, in a final attempt to console her and bring some measure of comfort, said, "I remember those tears!  I have cried those tears!"

Rochelle finally quieted down when she became fascinated with the picture of a 10-week-old fetus in one of our brochures.  Even though she was abortion-minded, she agreed to an ultrasound exam.  As she left, she specifically asked that we pray for her.  That was one thing we could guarantee.  We rejoiced when she returned two days later for her appointment.

Here is the icing on the cake:  When Rochelle saw her baby on the ultrasound screen, she rejoiced and something caused her baby to jump.  Seeing this small baby move made Carol, our Nurse Manager, laugh which then made Rochelle laugh.  The baby then jumped again!  You don't see that very often, but right before our very eyes we saw an amazing transformation in Rochelle's life.  As Kimberly, our Director of Client Services, put it "Her tears and anguish were turned into laughter and joy when she saw her baby, and now she chooses LIFE!   Praise God.
